As I sip a pre-dawn black coffee in the conservatory and await the start of the second-half of the Saints-Packers game, I’m pondering one heavy question: “Is Peyton Manning done for good?”

The NFL is back; the Pack are back.

They billed this game the Kickoff Special; how prophetic they were as the Packers out-gunned the Saints 42-34 in a thrilling game.

So, after a season that clearly underlined the 18-year old veteran’s vulnerabilities – with the Jets slumping from an 8-3 start to end 9-7 – why do the Vikings think it ‘sensible’ to throw a $12 million dollar contract at the chosen-one’s feet (with $13 million option in 2010)?
