The RFL delivered a swift and none too diplomatic “don’t call us we’ll call you” message to the ambitious Toulouse Olympique club Monday.

In a move sure to send shock waves through the sport, Leigh Sporting Village, home stadium of the Leigh Centurions rugby league football club, announced its intention to relocate to another town after the Centurions’ relegation blighted season.

Leigh overcame a rocky start to compile a comprehensive but ultimately pointless 47-14 win.

Relegation for the vocally ambitious Centurions is almost inconceivable, especially after their recruitment of former Leigh, St.Helens and Wigan coach, Ian Millward, for next season. A move that was intended to signal their charge to the engage Super League.

Leigh Centurions put daylight between themselves and Gateshead Thunder in the race for Championship survival, setting up a crucial clash at the Thunderdome next weekend.
