Could there be a more ‘old school’ NFL game than today’s NFC Championship match up between the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers?
Former coaches George Hallas of the Bears and Vince Lombardi of the Packers are legends in the game, with iconic names. So much so that the winners of todays game receive the Hallas Trophy and earn the right to go to the Super Bowl and win the Lombardi trophy.
The two teams have met only once before in the playoffs; a week after Pearl Harbour in 1941. You’ve gotta check out the film footage from that game. A real taste of history. In fact it was so long ago that the NFL was still an upstart professional football league and the Bears played the game at Wrigley Field, home of National League baseball’s Chicago Cubs.
So it is going to be a cracker in freezing 18f conditions. Bring it on
I’m backing the Pack and their defence to come out on top; especially if QB Aaron Rodgers can slice and dice them Bears with his passing game.
