The Co-operative Championship continues to be a fascinating sporting contest and one that is every bit as intriguing and exciting as the engage Super League. The advent of SKY TV coverage for this competition has really raised the profile and it deserves a SKY magazine slot of it’s own.

“It’s the same message as last week for us; it’s just about getting the job done. That’s our primary focus.” – Warren Jowett, Dewsbury Rams coach.

Thursday’s Game of the Week is an all Yorkshire affair with Keighley Cougars hosting Dewsbury Rams Live on Sky Sport 3 (7.30).

Cougar coach, Barry Eaton, is allegedly so excited at the chance of some TV exposure that he is considering making a shock comeback.

Having not played a first team game in 2009 it will be a case of throwing himself into the deep end against an unbeaten Rams side that is pummelling weaker opposition in CC1, averaging over 40-points per game. In fact Dewsbury will win the Co-operative Championship One if they they claim three points from their trip to Cougar Park; second-placed Keighley are 12-points adrift of the rampant Rams.

“I’m definitely in the reckoning,” Eaton admitted. “I’m in the squad and I’m seriously considering myself but I probably won’t make a decision until the day itself.

Eaton added: “It’s actually worked out as a really pivotal game for them (Dewsbury). It’s our home live TV game and they can win the league if they come here and win. It’s certainly building up to a fantastic occasion.”

Only Craig Brown is unavailable for the Cougars, while Rams coach Warren Jowitt has a full strength squad apart from Austin Buchanan (knee).

Jowitt said: “It’s the same message as last week for us; it’s just about getting the job done. That’s our primary focus.”
