I’m concerned about Wolfie. Of all the engage Super League mascots Wolfie always seemed to me to have a permanent worried look. Now I’m sure it’s getting worse and I’m worried for the little guy.
Having seen Warrington play three or four times this season though, I’m beginning to understand the source of Wolfie’s woe.
It’s not that he’s trying to fathom the loquacious utterings of coach, Paul Cullen, nor that he’s hunting for a chippie near the Halliwell Jones stadium, nor is ‘Granny’ bothering him … no, it’s the Warrington Wolves and their on-off performances.
So good at Wigan; bad then good then bad vs. Hull; bad then good at Quins; bad, better, then woeful against the Saints.
The poor creature is in turmoil: when they’re playing well he’s wondering when they’ll switch-off and when they’re running cold he’s on pins waiting for ‘em to wake-up.
And either-which-way he’s constantly waiting for any combination of Lee Briers, Chris Bridge, Paul Rauhihi, Paul Wood or Martin Gleeson to be injured.
In short the creature is being abused by inconsistent and careless owners who are consistent only in their frustrating inability to put together a consistently good string of performances.
It’s time to him out of his misery …
Good home wanted for depressed house-trained wolf … can dance … can you help? No grannies please.
